It's time for christmas cooking!

One of Jaden's favourite parts of December has always been the cooking we do together, and this year Bethany had her first turn of helping too. We made some yummy shortbread cookies to share when a friend came over for morning tea.

Bethany was very clear that she could 'do it myself' and she did a very good job of cutting some christmas shapes.

Our next project was a gingerbread house. I have always wanted to do it but we've never attempted it before. We are planning to make one for Jaden's nan as a gift so thought we would make one for ourselves as a practice run.

I saw a simple A frame one done on a Women's Weekly christmas special so I made a cardboard stencil and we used that to cut the gingerbread walls.
Then we put it all together with icing and decorated it.

We had a slight malfunction with a wall that cracked and then a piece broke off, so Jaden had the idea of using musk sticks as support beams and then we 'glued' the broken bit back on with LOTS of icing.

We were going to take it to our Bible study group that night to share for supper but it got cancelled at the last minute so we just ate it ourselves.

And it was very yummy :-)
